Grayson
Highlands State Park
The
park is adjacent to the Mount Rogers National Recreation
Area, a part of Jefferson National Forest. Grayson
Highlands State Park was originally named Mount Rogers
State Park and was established in 1965. While pets are
allowed in the park, they are not allowed inside public
facilities including the bathhouses, visitor center and
office.

2900 acre natural area owned and operated by the City of
Kingsport, Tennessee.

Nature Interpretive Center, Museum, and Planetarium
dedicated to the education and enrichment of students and
general visitors alike, to promote wise stewardship of our
environment and its resources
Grandfather
Mountain
Highest
peak in the Blue Ridge, is the only private park in the
world designated by the United Nations as an International
Biosphere Reserve.
Mount
Mitchell State Park
At 6,684 feet, its the highest peak in
Eastern America. A short walk takes you to the observation
tower on top. Picnicking, hiking, and nature study are
available. Located at MP 355.
Mount
Jefferson State Park
539 undeveloped acres, picnicking, hiking and nature
study available. Located off Hwy. 221 in Jefferson, NC.
New
River
Located in the Appalachian Mountains of Alleghany,
Ashe and Watauga Counties, this 26.5 mile stretch of river
has been named a national wildlife and scenic river. Its
one of the few rivers in the world that flows north.
Canoeing, rafting, tubing and fishing are popular here.
Stone
Mountain State Park
This park is named for its 600 ft. high granite
formation, three miles in circumference at the base.
Fishing, hiking, and nature study are available in this
virtually undeveloped park area. Stone Mountain is located
in Alleghany and Wilkes Counties.
Warrior's
Path State Park
Warrior's
Path State Park was named for the park's proximity to the
ancient war and trading path used by the Cherokee.
Since that time, the park land has known a long history of
travelers, and is still a pathway for modern-day outdoor
enthusiasts. The 950-acre area was acquired from the
Tennessee Valley Authority is 1952, to serve the people
who live in or visit this section of Northeast
Tennessee. It is situated on the shores of TVA's
Patrick Henry Reservoir on the Holston River
